Sensitive to the fellow human beings, particularly the disadvantaged and the global society, Shariq Bin Raza and Alka Raza have worked extensively in the areas of human development, rights of the people, democracy, media and communication in different parts of the world and in India.
Committed to the welfare and development of the people, on their return to village Katha, Shariq and Alka, along with their son, Sahil with their personal resources - financial and non-financial, initiated a number of programs and activities to support and contribute to the development of the people around them and the society at large.
One of these initiatives was the humble beginning of "NJB - Women Empowerment Centre" in memory of Shariq's mother, Noor Jehan Begum, philanthropist; a sensitive and kind hearted woman known for her support and assistance to the poor, the underprivileged, the orphans, the disabled and others in difficulties around her wherever she lived.
